The use of liposuction to eliminate excess fat from the thighs, bottom and stomach has grown dramatically over recent years as it can treat this problem when some other methods fail. The only problem with this procedure is that sometimes the fat returns but not to the region it was originally taken from.

Two basic techniques of removal are used; the Tumescent technique and Ultrasonic. The most modern of these techniques is Tumescent and has become one of the most commonly practiced aesthetic cosmetic procedures in America.

The main reason Tumescent liposuction has become so popular with cosmetic surgeons is because the addition of adrenaline to the solution reduces the blood loss that often happens when more traditional methods are used.

Ultrasonic liposuction allows fat to be removed from traditionally awkward locations like the thighs, upper stomach and back.

It is possible, even though rare, for internal injury to occur owing to the fact the surgeon cannot adequately see where the probe is once it’s inside the body when performing the traditional technique of removing fat. It is always in the patient’s interest to find out everything they can about the process before they commit to any cosmetic procedure.

As with any type of medical procedure, liposuction does have some risk attached although professional cosmetic surgeons take great care of their patients. Preparation for this type of treatment is imperative so a series of physical examinations are required to ensure that the risk to the individual is minimal. Infections can occur after any surgery so some physicians prescribe an antibiotic to patients because of the importance of keeping wounds clean until they heal. Cosmetic surgery is improving all the time, so are the techniques to perform it and methods to avoid complications.

A new procedure akin to liposuction is Lipo dissolve, which eliminates unwanted fat with a series of micro-injections into problem areas such as the neck, stomach and thighs. Of course the greatest benefit to patients undergoing this process is the fact that no form of anesthetic is required and it does not interfere with other cosmetic skin treatments where surgery is not required.
