Medical Treatment
Ordinary dandruff does not need medical treatment, but severe cases may require a medicated shampoo. Some dermatologists prescribe an antifungal shampoo, such as ketoconazole. Although dandruff is not a fungal disease, fungi that normally live on the scalp can increase flaking.
